The Murcia region is located directly to the South of the Costa Blanca which is one of Spain’s most popular region’s.
To get to Murcia you can fly to Alicante airport or even closer is San Javier (Murcia) airport.
Murcia is located inland but on the coast which is known as the Costa Calida there are many good tourist resorts and fine sandy beaches.
Murcia weather attracts many tourists because of the fine Mediterranean climate. The temperatures in summer are usually in the mid-30s but the heat is a dry heat so it does feel comfortable. Even in the off-season Murcia enjoys great weather for example in the month of November the temperature is an average of 20° during the daytime.
Murcia is one of Spain’s oldest cities therefore it has a great deal of history with many museums and buildings of architectural importance. The most important sites you should visit on your trip to Murcia include the world famous Santa Maria Cathedral in Murcia, the Almudí Palace, the Monteagudo Castle and the Ramón Gaya Museum in the Plaza Catalina.
Murcia is also becoming a magnet for shopaholics. There are now two big Murcia shopping malls which are attracting visitors from hundreds of kilometres away. Many of the shops and stores located in these shopping malls are not to be found anywhere else in the Murcia region.
The Nueva Condomnia Shopping Centre is situated to the north of the city of Murcia. The big shop here that is drawing in the British who live in Spain is Primark, this is a retailer famous throughout the United Kingdom for offering amazing good value clothes. Other well-known shops include H and M and the Disney store.
The Thader Shopping Mall has many shops which are familiar names in Spain such as Zara and Mango. But without question the big retailer that draws in thousand shoppers every single week is IKEA Murcia, the Swedish furniture retailer which has huge stores all over Europe.
Whatever your interest whether it be relaxing on the beach is or if you prefer an active vacation and holiday such as seeing monuments and finding out all about the history, Murcia has something for everyone.
