Maybe it’s the idea of a man keeping his necklaces, bracelets, earrings and nose rings in a
jewelry box and getting ready to go out for the evening and wondering which piece of jewelry to wear, that makes me want to laugh, but somehow it does sound funny. Of course a man has to keep his trinkets somewhere and it’s not for me to say they are not valuable. After all, most men do collect cuff links, tie clips, watches, and other accessories and the modern guy may even have some of those other pieces I mentioned earlier. However, men’s jewelry boxes should be referred to as a ‘Valet Box’ which definitely sounds much better and less effeminate.
I do think it’s cool for a man to have a valet box where he can store all his trinkets such as rings, watches, car keys and whatever that men consider valuable in order to have quick access to everything he needs in a hurry. It’s usually customary to see all the above mentioned items such as watches, car keys, rings etc. strewn all over the place with the women in the house having to run around in the morning looking for them. So how do you get your man to keep everything in once place, meaning in a valet box? One thing for sure is he’ll never buy one for himself!
Men’s valet boxes or jewelry boxes are available in different shapes and sizes but mostly in wood or leather. If you are hoping to change your man’s habits and make him tidier in his ways, buy one that suits his personality. A sophisticated man about town would like nothing better than a classic looking genuine leather valey box without any adornments. I’m not sure whether choosing one with separate shelves and drawers is going to help, because he’s bound to put everything in one drawer. Can you imagine a guy sliding out one drawer to put his watch; another to put his ring and so on? The best type would be one where there’s a single pull out compartment where everything can be stored. It should have a durable satin lining in a dark color, although a lock might or might not be made use of.
To make your gift more meaningful, you can personalize it with his name by engraving it on a stainless steel plate that can be fixed to the box or even carved on the leather itself which means it has to be a customized gift. If your guy is close to nature and would prefer something in wood, there are any number of beautifully done wooden jewelry boxes that are simple and elegant or intricately carved, if that’s what he likes. Whatever it is, he’s sure to get the message and will try at least for a time to store his knick knacks in the valet box you gave him, appreciating the thought behind the gift.
